Generate Traffic With Keyword Search Engine Optimization

The keywords or keyword phrases that you choose are important pathways to driving customers to your website. Through the process of SEO (search engine optimization), you will improve a websites visibility in search engines using keywords. When your site is well designed with good keywords and structure, it can result in a website showing up higher in search result pages and more often. This results in more traffic to your site and hopefully increased sales.

There are several steps that can be taken to optimize your website. Google Adwords is a popular tool for studying the amount of search queries generated by everyday people for different topics. Use this tool to determine keywords that have a high numbers of requests, making them valuable keywords to be used on your website. It also lists related keywords or phrases that could be used on your site.

Incorporate selected keywords into the text on a web page. Place them above the fold-line on a page, preferably in the first paragraph of text. Scatter them throughout the text and the last paragraph. They should flow naturally in the sentence, providing quality information to the reader. Using bullet points in an article is an excellent method for incorporating keywords and making it easier for the reader to scan articles quickly.

Include keyword, text links pointing to other pages of your website within the text. Search engines and visitors will follow these links to new pages. Use creative titles for each page on the website to draw the reader in ,and be sure to incorporate the main keyword in the title.

Take advantage of meta tags and write a cleaver short description of the page. Keep it down to one or two sentences, and be sure to include a keyword or keyword phrase. Search engines may pick up the first text encountered on the page, to be used for a search result if there is no meta tag description for the page.

The text that you prepare for a description in a meta tag, is your presentation of the web page to the reader, that’s found in a search result. Grab their attention with your words and they will click the link to your site.
